poster child

Always on the look out for affordable art, I was thrilled to have found this fantastic website. Founder Sonja Teri started this on-line comprehensive gallery of exclusive, limited edition, silk screened poster art.
The art ranges from work by Guerrilla artists such as Taki 183 {famous for his Graffiti art on 183rd street in Washington Heights } to the Octogenarian David Weidman, probably best known for creating 'Mr Magoo' and 'Rocky and Bullwinkle'.

Lumadessa creates beautiful, simple modern takes on the traditional, Flora and Fauna theme. The artist Josh Brill has created a the bird collections which is simply....well brilliant {I know, I'm a bit brain dead today}
The prints are of a limited addition, signed, numbered and run $20.00 for an unframed 5x7 piece.
At that price you can own a whole flock! and to make them that much lovlier, 5% of profits are donated to Animal and Environmental charities. Nice work Josh!

Bay area, Oly design studio has been been a favorite go-to resource for many of us who admire a mix of antique, modern and natural organic element in our furnishings.
I'm not even sure if this line of oils is new to their collection, but it's new to me and certainly captures the essence of their work on canvas, beautifully.

trippy

Tired of the ubiquitous coral prints from the past few years?
How about something not so cutesy, a bit more literal. Something less cartoony and more, naturally beautiful. Natural Curiosities is one of my favorite places to look for beautiful, smart imagery of all things beastie.
Their recent line of triptychs based on antique photographs and engravings, is their newest endeavor into the world of specimen images. Provocative in their theme and size, they add instant pow power to any room.

Lord Denver's horse Aditoc-
This collection comes from a beautiful vintage photograph depicting Lord Denver's prize horse "Aditoc" after the winning race in 1928. The photographer is unknown Dimension: 50.8" x 22.8" (each panel)

Here, ya go. This one's for all of you, forementioned, who like me can't handle another coral cartoon.....sure it's a bit bold a bit of a risk {rarely has "beautiful" come from being safe}, but also sort of beautiful in that floaty, stellar way.

Lord Bodner's octupus-

The original is a copperplate engraving by Lord Bodner and was published in 1826 in London as part of a series studying creatures of the deep. It also comes in brown -Dimensions: 51.6" x 23.6" (each panel)

Caspari Horse-

This collection has been inspired by an old photograph that was originally purchased in auction in England. The photograph depicts an aristocratic lady standing by her champion horse in 1904-Dimensions: 24" wide by 32" high (each panel)

altered states

"california"

"colorado"

"The States is an ongoing personal project meant to be an exploration of form. The rules are simple: take the silhouette of a US state, and fit something inside of it."

~illustrator Frank Chimero.

"wyoming"
while the images used don't always reflect the culture of each state, Chimero likes to throw in a little visual reference here and there.

"kansas"
"idaho"
he also makes really cool gig and inspirational posters among other great prints, like this one:

home pooling

last year i bought this little tray from west elm, to keep 'the pile' {mail, cut out pictures of the jonas brothers, notes from teachers} that accumulates weekly, into a neat little contained space. it looks nice, very designery. modern. clean.
my husband warned me this morning, 'don't put anything important into this tray. it's the black hole' {oh you mean, like that bill that was due last month?}

ok...but what about this charming little wall hanging from urban:

how could this become a 'black hole' ...much too cute for such pejorative terms.
and set a votive behind it ~instant wall sconce!
the best part, this was designed by one of my favorite bloggers, 'oh, joy!'
