holiday baubles

Vintage Glass Orbs from Suzan Fellman look holiday, year round. I love how they look en masse, but even one would be a great accent, table top or book end. $65-$165
Also feeling the Holiday vibe with the Laurel Wreath themed pieces over at Emily Elizabeth jewelery.

there's something so, 'hark the herald angels sing' about this look:

If you're not one to pull the off the Laurel Crown, try the bangle instead...

and then there's the
Pippa Small Peacock cuff, which I can't quite figure out if I love, or if it has the slightest, 'I work at NBC and I'm proud of it' ring to it. No matter at 14,000 Euros, I'll probably pass.

*sigh*. red, shagreen, asian inspired. exquisite. Who cares what else you have on when you have this number in your clutch.

love them. I've already tried them on, and they don't look great on me but I think someone out there needs these. The holidays are the perfect time to don the door knockers. These are complete in their kitsch with the rhinestone vintage detailing. You know who you are, no go out and rock them.

designer tag sale OC

Mark your calendars! The second Designer Tag Sale is happening Saturday, October 24th in Orange County. Produced by Vanessa Squared. This is the duo that gathered together a bevvy of designers in Venice last summer for the upscale tag sale bonanza where I scored big time.
I'm telling you, get there at 10am. Besides gift bags for the first 30, there is GREAT stuff to be had and it goes quickly. btw, nothing over $200.00 and finds as low as $5.00.

Refab Clinic and Christopher Tracy Interiors will be one of many on hand.

Designers, discarding their treasures to make room for more. This is not your ordinary tag sale. At the last one I spied, among other things, rolls of Cole & Son wallpaper, Yardage of Sea Cloth and Quadrille fabrics , not to mention the incredible vintage finds. And the best part of course, is that anything left over will be donated to The Sheepfold { a women's and children's shelter }

Check out who else is participating and get directions: their website, Designer Tag Sale OC

paris is burning

paris hotel boutique is en feu with great new arrivals....

books, books, books. do you read them or just keep them around as props? {no judgement} No matter, these will fit both purposes.
the old testament, from the book of David:

do you really need an explanation...

damn. sorry, this just sold. but it looked so good just sitting there, I didn't want to take it down. Guess that would make it a prop book.

my kinda girl.....

Esme´ of Paris
the witty autobiography of the colorful parfumier personality, Esme´Davis
"Anything could happen to Esme Davis-and almost everything did." She was an acrobat, ballet dancer, wild-beast tamer, music-hall and circus artiste and, latterly, parfumier.

Numbers, letters, vintage= art.

I believe this is now the galleria. Antique, San Francisco signage, it's a good thing.

My daughter, Charlotte was born in Boston. Upon meeting her new sister for the first time, my then 3 year old asked where the baby came from, I explained, that she came from God. Her response: "Well, can you take her back to Cape God?" I think we need this.

lovely:

vintage, GLAMour.
now THIS is a cocktail table

vintage Italian glazed garden stool

going, going, gone! but still so beautiful.

No matter, Paris hotel boutique is always rife with incredibly, glamorous, vintage,finds. But word to the wise, you have to check-in regularly to get the goods.

the future perfect

All week I've been trying to stave off the grippe. Not happening, my drippy nosed head is telling me.
In my benedryl fogged haze I'm forcing myself to sit, quietly and do a little lap-top window shopping at, the aptly named: 'The future perfect' ~which carries, great tongue in cheek chic design.
this one's already making my nose itch. could they also make fur tumbleweeds for the corners of the room? that would be great. thanks.

'freck specs'~$600.00
face 'jury' {btw, I was told this is the real way to pronounce 'jewelry'} for all of us freckle-less faces who always wished for nature's sprinklin's.

'three sixty table' ~ $1795.00

good ollie, this is awesome.

'graffiti pillow'~$175.00
graffiti needle pointed pillow. wow. I do so love this. It's granny tagger street chic, mon dieu.

'new york delft'~ $100.00

is new york the new amsterdam? hmmm.
'london toile' wallpapers~$242.00 a roll
my sister can't live with toile~ as our dentist's office, growing up was plastered in it. I, on the other hand, will never tire of the detail patterny-pattern busy-ness of it. I also, love most timorous beasties wallpaper.

'frutti di mare etched crystal'~ $298.00/pair
I love a good frutti de mare themed table top piece {beats that tired old coral motif}

'franky tattoo cutlery'~$960.00 six person set

sleeve your flatware, kid.
it's like kirk repose´ for the inked crowd. beautiful and modern
happy friday, I need to go take another benedryl and dream of my future perfect.

sweet carvings

At first glance I thought, 'these are great custom gift ideas for valentine's day' but the more I thought about it, I'd love to have a little something like this one below... with my sweet 'milo's initial.

artist, julieann will custom carve your intials into this polymer clay piece, which would be cute on a key ring.
$12.00 {ha! such a deal}
{measures approx. 3/4" x 1 1/2" and come with eyepin and jumpring for hanging}

I posted on artist, jessica rust's custom birch tree line once before. I'm still in hearts over her work. So pretty and simple, but personal.
$58.00 for a set of 4 {ships within 1-2 weeks}

as my mom always said: carving your names into a tree is sweet and romantic, but not so much for the tree. {or something along those lines}

Gum Tree

Once upon a time an Aussie boy and a So Cal girl met-up in the Big Apple, fell in love and got married. One successful restaurant and a daughter later, the family of three moved back to her roots and set up shop at the beach.

The space that they found was one of a kind. A lovely old beach house with lots of great light. The two quickly got to work, dividing and conquering, creating one side for dining and the other for buying
{this is where I come in}.
naturally fallen branch coat rack--$298
Organic cotton Je T'aime Brooklyn bag--$46

Sitting on Pier avenue, in Hermosa Beach, overlooking the water, Gum Tree's purveyors~Lori and Will Ford, have done such a beautiful job of encompassing that beachy, sophisticated, laid back vibe, this little town has been needing for SO long.

Moroccan leather poofs--$324 Sea life pillows—thomas paul--$115
Abstract pillows—hable construction--$96-145
Love pillow—Atsuyo et Akiko--$69
Striped Easter Rug---$69

the shop is set up like the beach house it is,
A living room, filled with everything you'd want for your bohemian chic, beachy {or not so beachy} home~ pillows by hable construction, john robshaw and thomas paul. Moroccan poufs in silver and gold {like little bon-bons }

Organic cotton block printed crib set—Plover Organic--$325
Chalkboard table and kids chairs—Offi--$598

and a children's section in another room with some of the cutest, bedding {that will make you the envy of your baby group}

vintage bird cage with Bla Bla birdie rattles—rattles $33
there's a great collection of books, backpacks, melamine plates, clothing, mini-poufs and more. all so carefully handpicked, and beautifully creative.
hand knotted bracelets—Tai--$37-78

and jewelry, did I mention the jewelery? throughout the shop are little collections of different designer jewelry. All beautiful.

La Compagnie de Provence hand soap--$23
another room offers lovely scarves, soaps and more personal items. The perfect place to find a special little hostess gift.
starfish napkin rings--$18 for set of 4

chan luu cashmere/silk tissue weight scarves--$179

dash and albert rugs---$28-98

jonathan adler fish salt and pepper shakers--$48
vintage paperweights--$34-38
oh, and spotted throughout, Ford has little vintage treasures for sale that she's found on her huntings.

Vilac (French toy company opened in 1911 and still made in France) wooden car--$15
If you're in our neck of the woods, this is not to be missed. Stop in, say hello, enjoy a latte and a nosh next door and soak in the beachy goodness of Gum Tree.

*the restaurant side is opening {hopefully} next week and will be serving up a menu of foods, mostly, locally resourced and organically grown.

an unexpected bonus that comes with blogging is 'meeting' new people that share similar interests. BB8 reader, carin rankin not only shares similar interests but in turn, shared with me her newest interest; her charming new showroom, 'william howard home'.
the shop, located in hoboken, new jersey was named for her two grandfathers and carries all things fabulous for the home.
she sent me some photos to share {in case we couldn't get to hoboken in the next few} come on in, let's browse a bit.....where to begin, I love that bamboo writing desk.

great glassware, bell jars and beautiful, domed cake stands make anything suddenly seem like a speciman to behold. that mirror below is fantastico too.

and i see a few of my favorite lines such as dash and albert throws and thomas paul pillows

seda candles {i love the japanes quince fragrance in this line} i have a feeling this is a store that smells really good when you walk in.

beautiful platters from 'eloquent ink' {these are done using semi precious metals, platinum and 23 karat}
great notecards from screech owl designs
carin, i can tell you've put your heart into your new baby. it looks amazing, thank you for sharing.

if you're unable to make it into her shop, give her a call and tell her you were in there with me, she'll slip you, the 'bb8 bro deal'. 10% off through the month of december.
